Luke Air Show

We were so lucky to be back in town right in time for the Luke Air Base Air Show. We made it a family affair! I believe we had 13 people with us! Thanks to Aaron (my sister's future hubby), he was able to get us in to fly the F-16 simulators (it's like a giant video game in which you try to fly the jets). Matt had such a wonderful time seeing all of his old friends!

So happy to be home and so sad to leave the next day!! It is so COLD in Korea and we were enjoying the AZ weather way to much! 4 months and counting until Sunny Flordia!!! I started a count down calendar in our dorm room!!

"Beef on a Leaf" in Downtown Kunsan

This past Sunday, a group of us decided to try out a grill place downtown. The guys like to call these places "Beef on a Leaf" because you grill the meat at the table and eat them on leaves (kind of like lettuce wraps). After dinner, we walked to a gellato restaurant for dessert. It was good company and a lot of fun! Matt enjoying the Beef on a Leaf

Welcome to "Tracy Teachers" Classroom

Welcome to my classroom! Here in Korea, where I am an "official" teacher, I am known not as Mrs. Renbarger or Mrs. Tracy, but as Tracy Teacher. I never have caught on why they put the teacher part after my name...it's cute though :)

Every kid has a cell phone! It is crazy! Even the little kindergartners have cell phones! They always ring in class and they will try to tell me "Tracy teacher, mother, mother!" And they try to go outside to take the call. I am like, ya right....your mom knows your in class...why is she calling! :)

A Tour Around My School KNC

Here is a little tour around my school. Everyday, around 2:00pm I start my day at KNC. I teach until 8:30 at night. My school is in the middle!My classroom is the last window on the right.

This is my favorite store! It is right across the street from my school. It is just like Claires :)

I have so much junk from this place! I can't help it when earrings are 3,000 won ($1.50)!!

Only in Korea do they actually wear all of these hair accessories!

AHHH....Ms. Donuts (their version of Dunkin Donuts). They have the best hot chocolate. This is right next to Becca and Trish's school, Hanmi.

This is my favorite food stand. It is right across the street from KNC. The ladies there love us! I go in everyday for a fresh fruit smoothie for $1500 won ($.95)! When I say fresh, I mean they don't even compare to Jamba Juice. This is one of the things I am going to miss about Korea! For $.95, I get an extra large fruit smoothie...at Jamba Juice the same thing would go for $5.00! They take the fresh fruit (my favorite is the pineapple and orange) and put ice and water in the blender. It is all natural and delicious....that's probably why everyone here is SO skinny!

I have no idea what these are...but the kids love eating these before class.

My Wonderful Teaching Skills in Action!

I thought it would be fun to bring my camera into work and capture some of my amazing teaching skills :) My absolute favorite class are the kindergartners. They speak absolutely little English and they repeat EVERYTHING I say. It is so cute!! In this video, it shows one of the many funny moments I have here teaching!

Out and About around Kunsan City

This past week, while all the pilots had to work nights, Trish, Becca, Amy, and I (all of the teachers) decided to try a different Korean restaurant each night. We just walked around town and went into different restaurants, all of which did not speak English. We just let them bring us the food and we ate it! I brought my camera the last night we ate out. This was a restaurant with a pig on the sign. So naturally, they brought us thick pieces of bacon to grill, along with many different side dishes. That is the Korean tradition. At every meal, they have 6 different side dishes (most of which I had no idea what they were). It was a lot of fun!

This is the traditional Korean side dish Kimchi. It is basically fermented cabbage with different spices. It is actually delicious in soup!

My absolute favorite Korean dish is the Chom-Chi-Kimchi-Chi-Gey. In English, this means Tuna Soup and Kimchi. It is so spicy! I order this soup about 3 times a week at my school. It comes with a side of rice for $3500 won ($2.20)

At this restaurant, we grilled up the slabs of pork and put them on leaves to eat. They were kind of like lettuce wraps!

This was the outside of our restaurant. With Korean restaurants, you really never know what you are going to get. Even though it may look bad from the inside, the food is actually really good! Our entire meal per person was 6,000 won ($3.83). And the best part of Korea is that you NEVER tip!

JD....the Juvat squadron dog loves me so much. I feed him turkey whenever he comes to our door. People tell me that some days, when I am at school, he will just sit at my door and wait for turkey.
